Politics aside, don’t you think Vice President Joe Biden’s teeth are too white? Whether they are real or not is probably a matter of Secret Service.
Are you thinking of getting cosmetic dentistry? Rather than saving a long time to raise the funds, why not travel to Mexico now. You can even accomplish it in a one week period. A typical Porcelain Veneer in the US or Canada can cost around $1000 – $1500. The cost of porcelain veneers in Mexico from a good practitioner is approximately $400. That’s huge savings, especially if you require multiple veneers for the front teeth. Here are your options:
Porcelain veneers have been used for the last 25 years. Porcelain veneers are the most common recommendation in Mexico for that affordable smile makeover of your front teeth (aside from crowns). Veneers go over the tooth, on the front side. Here’s a good animation. For a smile makeover, you usually get around 6-8 Porcelain veneers for the front top or bottom.
Minimum prep veneers (prepless veneers) in Mexico are the newer alternative to traditional porcelain veneers. The most popular are Lumineers. Each of them boasts their own proprietary material and fabrication process.
The main difference between regular porcelain veneers and prepless veneers is that prepless veneers are as thin as contact lenses. Hence they require little or no removal of existing tooth structure.
Another key difference between traditional porcelain veneers and no prep veneers is that your dentist in Mexico has to send the impressions to the US labs. Hence, you can’t accomplish your cosmetic dentistry with one short trip to Mexico. It usually takes around 2-4 weeks before your Mexico dentist receives the final prepless Veneer from the US lab.
Lumineers are the most popular minimum prep veneers offered in Mexico. DenMat, the manufacturer of Lumineers, claims that the patented material used for Lumineers are stronger than traditional veneers.
Lumineers in Mexico are from the same DenMat manufacturer in the US. Mexican dentists have to send their dental impressions to US DenMat labs for original versions of Lumineers. Unfortunately, some unethical dentists in Mexico claim they can do Lumineers. However, when you arrive, you are offered Porcelain Veneers.
Recently, more laboratories in the US started developing competitors for Lumineers. Many of these no prep veneers are created with their own proprietary materials and fabrication process. Here are some of the more popular ones: Vivaneers, DURAthin Veneers, Radiant Veneers, Cristal Veneers, MACVENEERS, Emprethin Veneers.
Of course, affordable crowns are also recommended for affordable cosmetic dentistry in Mexico. Usually, crowns are recommended over veneers when your teeth damage are more extensive or when you need a stronger solution due to bite imbalance.
One more thing, you can ask your Mexico dentist for your color preference. You pick the shade of your teeth based on the color of your existing teeth and of course, your personal shading preference.
Perhaps it’s not advisable to ask your doctor for the whitest imaginable shading, unless of course you are the Vice President.
Have a wonderful smile today!
